Treasure Hunt and Pacos

Treasure Hunt in Guadamar

Thankfully the recent thunderstorms kept away and members assembled at the cafe Terraza Sotavento, near to La Reina Sofia park, in Guadamar.  After enjoying suitable refreshment, teams were given their sheets of clues for the Treasure Hunt, each team setting off approx. 10 mins apart.  The first team arrived back at base before mid-day, with the others following.  Unfortunately one team, Maureen & Stewart Forsythe and Sam Gibson, suffered a slight handicap on the way round, as Maureen’s wheelchair lost a wheel would you believe it over a ‘sleeping policeman’ (very apt) – a search party was engaged!  All the answers were duly marked and adjudicated by Dreena Wharton, with the announcement of the winners to take place at the Lunch venue.

Lunch at Pacos Restaurant

After making the short journey by car to Pacos Restaurant, along the Guadamar/Rojales road, we were welcomed by the staff and a large horseshoe arrangment of tables soon filled up, with extra members and visitors joining us for the lunch! There was a very ample menu del dia to choose from with a salad and ‘dish of the day’ starter, main course (cooked on an open bbq) and desert, with wine and coffee included.  The restaurant is very popular judging by all the other full tables.   Fred & Dreena announced the winners of the Treasure Hunt to be: The Four D’s (Don Maginnes, Dave Daniels, Barry & Janet Dale) each sharing the winnings – well done to them all! Our Chairman also gave a vote of thanks, with much applause, to Lynda & Jim Neville for arranging the venue for lunch, as well as to the friendly staff. Thanks also to Fred and Dreena, once again, for arranging the Treasure Hunt (with a little help from Richard Coleborne!)
