Our members and guests had a wonderful day visiting the Caves of Canelobre at Busot (north of Benidorm) where we had a guided tour of the caves – well, those brave enough to do the 250 steps involved – which was excellent and very informative. As an additional ‘extra’ those of us who still had some puff left made our way up (and down) the 174 steps to see the original entrance to the cave. A very welcome refreshment was available after the tour and we could all admire the spectacular views from their terrace.
The coach driver, Jaime, then took us on to Monroe’s Carvery at Moriara where we all enjoyed the tasty menu del dia with wine and Fred gave a vote of thanks to the staff of Monroe’s.
Back on to the coach and the next stop was the Valor Chocolate Factory near Villajoyosa. Firstly there was a short film about the origin of the family owners and the production of chocolate from the beginning until the present day. Next we were expertly guided round the facility which had very modern looking machinery and state of the art computerised manufacturing. Inevitably there had to be the obligatory ‘tasting’ in the shop, with plenty of products to tempt!
All in all a great day out and thanks, yet again, to Fred and Dreena for organising the trip and the raffle prizes!
